- Step 1:
Familiarize yourself with the menu system.
Hover the mouse over "Hover: Show Menu" in the upper left
corner. That menu is on every page, and contains everything you need to
use the service. Bookmark this page now. You can always find
this help page by selecting "Help, Getting Started" in the menu.
- Step 2:
Whitelist our email addresses.
In your email system / program, whitelist emailservice@followerhub.com,
support@followerhub.com, and registration@followerhub.com.
That will ensure that you receive emails from us.
- Step 3:
Configure your settings.
Select "Settings, Email Preferences" and "Settings,
Display Preferences" in the menu to configure your service settings.
- Step 4:
Add your social network accounts.
Select "My Social Networks, Add New Network" in the menu
and add all your social network accounts that you want to manage.
There's no limit to the number of accounts that you can
add.
When you add a social network account, write a Custom
Profile A for the account (it's on the final form you land on after
you've added the account).
- Step 5:
Enter keyword bids.
Select "My Keyword Bids, Add New Keyword" in the menu.
These keywords are used to match your social network account with
searches by other FollowerHub users.
Without attached keywords, nobody will find and
follow your account.
There's no limit to the number of keywords that you can
attach to an account.
When you bid on a keyword, you specify the maximum number
of credits that will be subtracted from your credit balance every time
someone finds your social account with a search hit on that keyword.
Start off with a low bid (small number of credits) and evaluate the
results that you get. Then increase the bids if necessary.
- Step 6:
Create your own searches.
Select "My Searches, Add New Search" in the menu. Searches
are the engines that find other social network accounts that you may
want to follow.
- Step 7:
Understand the importance of your list of social
network accounts.
Select "My Social Networks, List My Networks" in the menu.
This page is your central console that shows you an
overview of all your social network accounts.
- Step 8:
Grasp the power of groups.
Select "My Groups" in the menu. Groups are going to make
your life a lot easier.
The basic definition of a group is: It's a repository
where you can store any social media profile for later reference or for
grouping similar profiles together.
You can create as many groups as you like, and you can add
as many social profiles to a group as you like, and you can add the
same profile to many groups. You can also put Twitter, Google Buzz, and
other supported social network profiles into the same group.
There are two ways to add profiles to a group, namely:
manual, and automatic.
Manual: On your list of friends and
followers, you can manually add the displayed profiles to groups.
Automatic #1: When you create a search,
you can tell the system to automatically add anyone you follow from the
results of the search to a particular group.
Automatic #2: When you add or edit your
social network account, you can tell the system to automatically add
anyone who follows you on that account to a particular group, and to
add anyone you follow to another group.
Let's say you have two Twitter accounts and one Buzz
account. You create one group, called "New Followers" and you tell the
system to put anyone who follows you on the Twitter accounts and the
Buzz account into that New Followers group. Now you can review your new
followers for all your accounts on one page and
decide if you want to follow them back, block them, etc. The system
will put them into the group regardless whether they followed you here
on FollowerHub, on twitter.com, on Buzz, in TweetDeck, or wherever else.
Yeah, it really is pretty cool! Take some time and think
about how you can leverage groups. The more you use them, the more you
will love them.
- Step 9:
Understand the credits system.
Certain actions on FollowerHub are not free and are paid
for in credits. Currently, it consumes 10 credits to run a successful
search (one where the system finds matches for the search -- no
matches, no credits consumed). It consumes 10 credits to follow someone
you've found on FollowerHub. And credits are consumed when your
keywords are matched with other users' searches. The rest of the
service is free to use.
We have given you 500 credits for free to get you started.
The system will always tell you with a little popup box
how many credits will be consumed by an action.
Depending on your level of activity on the service, you
may need to purchase additional credits with "Credits, Buy Credits" in
the menu.
Credits cannot be transferred between FollowerHub user
accounts.
- Step 10:
Look for context-sensitive help.
On many of the pages on the site, there's a small help
bubble (with a question mark) located on the far right edge of the
browser window. Click the button to open help that's specific to the
page. You may need to scroll up to the top to see the help bubble of
this page.
- Step 11:
Ask for help when you get stuck.
Select "Help, Submit Support Ticket" in the menu or send
an email to support@followerhub.com if
you need help.
- Step 12:
Send us your feedback.
If you don't like something in the application, or you
want an additional feature, or you would just like to tell us what you
think of the service, please send us an email to feedback@followerhub.com.(Just
remember we cannot automatically follow or unfollow people for you on
Twitter. It is against the Twitter Rules.)
- Step 13:
Respect the rules of your social network.
Don't implement behaviors with FollowerHub that may get
your social network account suspended. For example, Twitter does not
allow automated following (except for reciprocal following) and
automated unfollowing. Therefore we do not offer that as features. But,
you can still get you account in trouble if you aggressively follow and
unfollow people. Don't do it.
- Step 14:
Register as an affiliate and make money.
We pay you 30% commission on all the payments that your
referrals make to FollowerHub, for the life-time of the referral's
FollowerHub user account. Select "About Us, Affiliate Program" in the
menu to register as an affiliate. Promote us and make money!
- Step 15:
Don't try to abuse the credits system.
Since everyone receives 500 credits for free when they
open a new FollowerHub account, a handful of folks may be thinking,
"I'll open an account, use up all the free credits, and then just open
a new account that gets the free credits, use those credits, rinse and
repeat, free credits forever." Uhm.... no. We've got that covered. A
social network account can only be in one FollowerHub user account at
any given point in time. If you open a new FollowerHub account and add
a social network account to it that has previously been added to
FollowerHub, the system automatically removes the free credits from the
new FollowerHub account.
